The police arrested three young activities, Supitchaya 'Menu' Chailom, Baipo Natthanit, and Benjamaporn 'Ploy' Nivas, on lese-majeste. The three, all in their 20s, are members of a political group, Taluwang, which has campaigned for the royal reforms.
Recently, the group organised a 'public referendum' pertaining to the monarchy. During a street survey, the group asked the question: "Do you agree that the monarchy should spend public fund at its own will?" They held a giant cardboard and asked the public to put a dotted sticker on either "agree" or "disagree." The authorities considered this activity lese-majeste and hence their arrests followed.
