Tawan-Bam on Hunger Strike, now Hospitalised

The two young activists, Tantawan “Tawan” Tuatulanon and Orawan “Bam” Phupong, who last week revoked their own bail then returned to prison, went on hunger strike for 3 days. At the end of the third day, they were both moved to a hospital inside a prison. So far there has been no official report about the incident. Nobody knows if they were willing to be treated or forced by the authorities to be hospitalised.

Prior to the revocation of their own bail, Tawan and Bam called for three demands 1) justice reforms, 2) moratorium of political prosecution and 3) requesting political parties to guarantee people's rights and liberties by repealing Article 112 and 116. They symbolically poured blood over themselves. They announced that the courts and all political parties had 3 days to release all political prisoners. Otherwise, they will raise the level of movement from inside and outside the prison. The hunger strike is a part of raising such level of movement.

นักเคลื่อนไหวรุ่นเยาว์ 2 คน ได้แก่ ทานตะวัน “ตะวัน” ตัวตุลานนท์ และอรวรรณ “แบม” ภู่พงษ์ ซึ่งเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้วได้ถอนประกันตัวเองแล้วกลับเข้าเรือนจำ อดอาหารประท้วงเป็นเวลา 3 วัน เมื่อสิ้นสุดวันที่สาม ทั้งคู่ถูกนำตัวส่งโรงพยาบาลภายในเรือนจำ จนถึงขณะนี้ยังไม่มีรายงานอย่างเป็นทางการเกี่ยวกับเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ไม่มีใครรู้ว่าพวกเขาเต็มใจรับการรักษาหรือถูกทางการบังคับให้เข้าโรงพยาบาล โดยก่อนเพิกถอนประกันตัว ตะวันและแบมเรียกร้อง 3 ข้อ 1) ปฏิรูปกระบวนการยุติธรรม 2) ยุติการดำเนินคดีทางการเมือง และ 3) ขอให้พรรคการเมืองรับประกันสิทธิเสรีภาพของประชาชนโดยยกเลิกมาตรา 112 และ 116 พวกเขาเทเลือดบนตัวเองเพื่อเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของการประท้วง พวกเขาประกาศว่าศาลและพรรคการเมืองทั้งหมดมีเวลา 3 วันในการปล่อยตัวนักโทษการเมืองทั้งหมด มิฉะนั้นจะยกระดับการเคลื่อนไหวจากภายในและภายนอกเรือนจำ ทั้งนี้ การประท้วงอดอาหารเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของการยกระดับการเคลื่อนไหวดังกล่าว
