APEC and Thai Protests with a 112 Agenda

As the Asia-Pacific leaders are gathering in Bangkok for the upcoming APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit, Thai protesters have taken to the streets of Bangkok to demand those foreign leaders not to render legitimacy to the current Prayuth Chan-ocha government. But more importantly, this could be the first time that the reforms of the monarchy and Article 112 have made it to an international head-of-state meeting as protesters held a placard "Abolition of Article 112" and sent an open letter to those leaders to help solve the shrinking democracy space in Thailand. ในขณะที่ผู้นำกลุ่มมเอเปคกำลังรวมตัวกัน ณ กรุงเทพมหานคร กลุ่มผู้ประท้วงได้ลงถนนเพื่อเรียกร้องให้ผู้นำเอเปคยุติการให้ความชอบธรรมแก่รัฐบาลของพลเอกประยุทธ์ จันทร์โอชา แต่าที่สำคัญกว่านั้น นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่ผู้ประท้วงใช้ประเด็นการการปฏิรูปสถาบันกษัตริย์และมาตรา 112 ณ ที่ประชุมระหว่างประเทศ โดยมีการชูป้าย "ยกเลิกมาตรา 112" และได้ส่งจดหมายไปยังผู้นำเอเปคเพื่อขอให้ช่วยแก้ไขปัญหาการขาดเสรีภาพในไทย ข้อความที่สำคัญก็คือ ประเด็นเรื่องมาตรา 112  ไม่ใช่เป็นประเท็นการเมืองภายในของไทยเท่านั้นอีกต่อไป แต่เป็นประเด็นระหว่างประเทศด้วย เครดิตภาพ: Thai Enquirer
