The Big Interview returns with a discussion with Titipol Phakdeewanich, who is Director of the Regional Center for Human Rights Study and Coordination (a collaboration between the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand and the Faculty of Political Science, Ubon Ratchathani University, Thailand).
He said that the dissolution of the pro-reform Move Forward Party will significantly impact Thailand's parliamentary democracy by imposing strict limits on the liberty and freedom to discuss legal reforms (Article 112), labelling such discussions as potential threats to national security. This undermines the principle of parliamentary sovereignty, which holds that the power to create, amend, and repeal laws resides solely with the parliament, as it represents the will of the people.
